MOTHER’S DAY- I hope all of you wonderful mothers had a very special day. I truly appreciate the Spa Gift Certificate from the class. I can’t wait to get pampered
FIELD DAY- We will be having field day tomorrow. Please wear an orange or red shirt so we can keep an eye on everyone. Bring sunscreen and a labeled water bottle. I would also bring a sweatshirt for the morning events. It might be kind of cool outside when we begin.
LIBRARY BOOKS- All Ford library books were due today. If you have any books checked out, please return them tomorrow for sure! I have books on my shelves that you can borrow or you can check out books from the public library.
ACCELERATED READER- This is the last week to earn AR points. All students need 10 points by this Friday!!!!!!!!! As of today, you have ________out of 10 points. I want everyone to be able to come to the “P” Party.
“P” PARTY- All students who have met their AR goals EVERY nine weeks will be invited to Mrs. Turner’s house on Monday, May 19th from 5-7. I’ll hand out invitations with directions on Friday.
HAWAIIAN DAY- Friday is Spirit Day. Dress in your favorite Hawaiian outfit.
THE EXCUSE OYMPICS-The Nifty Nine will present The Excuse Olympics on Friday, May 16th from 8-9 in Mrs. Turner’s classroom. Parents are welcome and encouraged to come.

TALENT SHOW- Come to Harrison High School tonight at 6:30 for the Talent Show! Good luck to Morgan Murphy and Colette Visage!!!!
VOLUNTEER TEA- We have been blessed with so many awesome volunteers this year! Please join us in the Media Center on Tuesday, May 6th starting at 9:00 for the Volunteer Tea so we can celebrate all that you have done for us!
EVENING IN THE GARDEN- Join us on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:00 for a wonderful evening. Bring a picnic and enjoy some wonderful music and artwork. Students’ artwork will be available to purchase. Good luck to the students in our class who will be singing for us: Katie Evans, Gabi Gilreath, Heather Hall, Aydan Mufti, Morgan Murphy, Michael Vollbracht, and Alexis Watson. Allison and Kevin will be playing their instruments too
MUFFINS FOR MOMS- We would like to honor our mothers this Thursday, May 8th from 8-9 in our classroom. I hope you can all join us. Bring tissues
YEARBOOK SIGNING- We will give the third grade students the opportunity to sign each other’s year books on Thursday. If you didn’t buy a yearbook, you are welcome to bring or make an autograph book for Thursday.
ACCELERATED READER- Time is running out! As of today, your child has _____out of 10 points. All AR goals must be met by Friday, May 16th. The “P” Party will be at Mrs. Turner’s house on Monday, May 19th from 5-7. Invitations with directions will be sent home on Friday, May 16th.
THE EXCUSE OLYMPICS- Parents of the Nifty Nine, please mark your calendars for Friday, May 16th. The students will present their play for you from 8-9 in the classroom. Please ask your child what he/she should wear for the play and start getting that outfit together. We will be having a dress rehearsal THIS FRIDAY!

CRCT- We took the science portion of the test today. We will take the social studies section tomorrow. Thank you so much for the delicious treats that have been sent in. The children look forward to the snacks every day.
ACCELERATED READER- All library books from Ford must be turned in by May 12th. The last day to take an AR test is Friday, May 16th. All students who have met their 10 point goal by then, will be invited to the “P” Party on Monday, May 19th from 5-7. As of today, you have _________out of 10 points.
ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TRIP- We will be going on our last field trip on Monday, May 5th. We will leave at 9:00 and return about 1:30. Mrs. Murphy will be our chaperone.

CONGRATULATIONS! Kyle Bender is our newest Math Buster!
SPRING FLING- I heard the everyone had a great time at Spring Fling. I was busy helping Allison get ready for the Harrison Prom
EARTH DAY- Tomorrow, the students need to dress in blue and green in honor of Earth Day. We will have various Earth Day activities throughout the day
CRCT- This is it! We’ve worked hard all year to prove what we know. The Reading section of the test will be given on Wednesday morning, followed by English on Thursday, and Math on Friday. We test two days the following week also with Science on Monday morning and Social Studies on Tuesday. Students need at least two #2 pencils with good erasers. I sent home a testing snack schedule last week. I will copy it again on the back of this newsletter. Please mark your date on the calendar, and send in your item on the assigned date. The children really look forward to the special snacks. I will not be assigning homework during testing. I would like for the students to read their AR books and review math facts each night. Please get to bed early every night and eat a nutritious breakfast every morning. RELAX!!!!!

WELCOME BACK- I hope everyone had a relaxing break.
CRCT- We will be reviewing and prepping for the CRCT test this week and next. I will be sending home a special testing snack schedule at the beginning of next week. Each day a healthy and salty snack, a drink, and a surprise will be provided for the students. The test starts on Wednesday, April 23rd and continues until the following Tuesday, April 29th.
ACCELERATED READER- Students have 5 MORE WEEKS to earn their 10 AR points. As of today, your child has _______ AR points. Everyone is on track to come to the “P” Party. Make sure to earn your points early so you won’t be stressed towards the end of the nine weeks period.
SPRING FLING- Come and join the fun on Saturday from 4-8!!! There will be lots of games, booths, auction items (the third grade teachers are offering a neat treat…kick ball and pizza… the students will play the teachers on Wednesday, April 30th from 2:30-4:30…the 10 highest bidders will win this GREAT auction item) Also, please remember to send in items for our Family Fun basket.

SPELLING PROJECT- The students were given a paper today explaining the spelling project that we will be working on AT SCHOOL this week. Our core words this week are: living, black, eat, short, United States. Our bonus words are: sentence, answer, research, presentation, visual, technology. Basically, the students are being asked to think of a black animal that lives in the United States. We will use our Language Arts time on Tuesday and Wednesday for research and preparation. The finished products will be presented on Thursday. If students will not be here on Thursday, the project needs to be finished and presented on Wednesday./ Close Review test on Thursday also.
PERFORMING ARTS FIELD TRIP- We will be going to the Cobb Civic Center tomorrow to see “Duck Soup”. We will eat lunch in the classroom from 10:15-10:45. We will leave for the play at 10:45 and should return about 1:30.
CRCT REVIEW- Continue to try the online tests at home. The more the students practice, the more comfortable they will feel when they take the actual test.
FISH TESTS- Everyone in our class has passed the zeroes through twelves tables. Please continue to review with your child. This new math unit will build on the multiplication facts that we’ve already learned.
SPRING BREAK- Spring Break starts after school on Friday. Enjoy your time off!!!
P.T.S.A. MEETING- Come hear the 5th grade musical on Thursday night starting at 6:30 in the gym.

MATH- We will begin our new unit today. Students will be learning how to do two and three digit by one digit multiplication using manipulatives and partial products/ Homework every night should be to practice basic multiplication and division facts…accuracy and speed are needed.

WEEKEND- I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your families.
ACCELERATED READER- We still aren’t sure when library books will have to be turned in for the end of the year inventory, so I’m setting the AR goal for 10 points. Please earn those early, so you won’t be stressed at the end of the nine weeks. So far, everyone is on track to get to come to the “P” Party…Yeah!!!!
FIELD TRIP- We will be going to the Root House/ Marietta Museum this Wednesday. The fieldtrip will be both inside and outside, so please listen to the weather and dress appropriately. We will be having lunch outside at the Marietta Square. I will remind students who ordered a sack lunch from school. Everyone else will need to bring their own lunch in a DISPOSABLE bag. We don’t want to have to keep up with lunch boxes. Everyone can bring their own drink of choice if they would like to. Mrs. Mufti and Mrs. Gilreath will be our chaperones.
TARGET- Students will have Target on Thursday this week instead of Friday.
GREAT EIGHT- If you have the game, Battleship, please bring it on Thursday. It will help with our discussion of map grids.
SPRING BREAK- Mark your calendars for April 7-11.
CRCT- Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 23-Wednesday April 30. During those 6 days, students need to have a strict bedtime and be well rested.
MYSTERY READER- Thanks Mrs. Hendricks and Mr. Contreras for being our Mystery Readers. Mrs. Hendricks also brought us a neat St. Patrick’s Day treat as well as a very cute Spring Treat!
FRIDAY- We will be having a FUN integrated day. All of the subjects will be tied into a certain topic.
